WELLESLEY, MA Ð After a deadlocked 120 minutes of soccer, Babson College and visiting Amherst finished in a 1-1 tie in a non-league matchup on Wednesday afternoon.
Babson (5-1-1) took a 1-0 lead in the 30th minute when Joe Plaisance scored off a pass from Peter DiDomizio at the top of the box. Amherst rebounded at the end of regulation when first-year forward Franklin Perry (Hartford, CT) connected on a deflected crossing pass for his second goal of the season, sending the game into the first of two overtime sessions.
Junior goalkeeper Bill Orum (Greenwich, CT) was outstanding in net for Amherst, finishing with five saves as the Jeffs moved to 2-1-1 on the season. Tom Malloy added seven saves for Babson.
Amherst hosts NESCAC rival Connecticut College Saturday at 11 a.m.
