Jeffs Stunned in Overtime by Bowdoin, 10-9

BRUNSWICK, ME - The Amherst College men's lacrosse team was stunned in overtime by Bowdoin College, 10-9, Saturday afternoon. Junior Ted Scholhamer drove into the offensive zone and fired a shot from inside the box, beating Amherst netminder Cushing Donelan. With the loss, the Jeffs drop to 5-6 on the season, while the Polar Bears move to 8-3. 

A high-scoring first quarter saw the two teams combine for eight goals as five different Bowdoin players tallied, giving the Polar Bears a 5-3 advantage after one period of play. The Jeffs rebounded in the second frame to outscore Bowdoin 3-1 and even the score at 6-6 at the half. Simon McKay scored at 9:53 of the third quarter to give put the Polar Bears up 7-6 at 9:53. Amherst's Matt Margolis evened the score at seven apiece with a strike at 5:49 as the two teams entered the fourth quarter tied. Scholhamer scored to give the Polar Bears a one-goal lead at 8:53 before Colby Griffith evened the score for the Jeffs at 4:06. Just six seconds later, Josh Allen scored a quick goal off a face-off to regain the lead for Bowdoin. Harlow Voorhees scored for Amherst at 2:39 to send the game into overtime. Scholhamer then netted the game-winner at 3:19. 

P.J. Prest had 12 saves for Bowdoin, while Donelan recorded eight stops for Amherst.
