Jeffs Rebound with 15-13 Win Over Tufts

AMHERST, MA - After dropping a pair of conference games by a total of three goals over the weekend, the Amherst College men's lacrosse team bounced back with a clutch 15-13 win over visiting NESCAC foe Tufts University on Wednesday. The victory moves Amherst (7-3/4-2 NESCAC) into a tie with Wesleyan University for third place in the conference standings, while Tufts (6-3/3-2 NESCAC) drops to fifth place with the loss. 

The Jeffs placed nine players in the scoring column, led by junior attackman Mike Allison (W. Nyack, NY), who paced the offense with four goals, including two in the fourth quarter. Senior Matt Margolis (Short Hills, NJ) added a trio of scoring strikes, while sophomore Alex Casertano (Millbrook, NY) and senior Chris Condlin (Baltimore, MD) chipped in with a pair of goals each. Sophomore goalie Cushing Donelan (Noroton, CT) turned away 15 shots in 59 minutes. 

Sophomore David Taylor (Burke, VA) was a one-man gang for Tufts, scoring a game-high four goals. Rookie Mike O'Brien (Concord, MA) added three goals and an assist. 

Amherst returns to action Saturday at 2 p.m. against visiting NESCAC foe Bowdoin College.
