Jeffs Tie at Bates, 1-1

LEWISTON, ME - The Amherst College women's soccer team fought host Bates College to a 1-1 double overtime tie on Saturday, moving to 2-2-1 (0-2-1 NESCAC) on the season. Junior Ashley Harmeling scored the lone goal for the Jeffs, while first-year Jeanette Crowell played all 110 minutes in goal and collected six saves.

The Bobcats took the lead at 34:46 when senior Catherine Crosby scored off a pass from first-year Stephanie LeBourdais. The Jeffs waited until the 86th minute for their response when Harmeling took a feed from senior midfielder Alexa Lawson-Remer and scored her team-high fourth goal of the year.

Senior goalkeeper Lynne Antinarelli had four saves for Bates, which moves to 1-0-2 (0-0-2 NESCAC) on the season with its second consecutive tie.

Amherst returns to action Thursday at 4:30 p.m. against visiting Springfield College.
