AMHERST, MA - After blanking Trinity and Eastern Connecticut State on Friday, the host Amherst College volleyball team won its remaining two matches at the Amherst College Volleyball Classic on Saturday, with 3-0 wins over Middlebury College and Wesleyan University.

The Jeffs downed Middlebury 30-14, 30-11, 30-26 behind 30 assists from junior setter Annie Hoeksma (Los Angeles, CA) and 10 kills each from senior co-captain Lauren Wong (San Francisco, CA) and junior outside hitter Nicole Davidson (Los Angeles, CA). Davidson also had eight aces and seven digs.

In the nightcap, a 30-27, 30-17, 30-18 win over Wesleyan, rookie outside hitter Kristin Quinn (Los Angeles, CA) led the way with 11 kills, while Davidson and Wong chipped in with six apiece, thanks in large part to another 27 assists from Hoeksma. First-year Mikela Yarawamai (Kamuela, HI) and senior co-captain Jess Allen (Chagrin Falls, OH) paced the defense with 10 and eight digs, respectively.

Now 13-2 on the season, Amherst returns to action next Friday and Saturday at the Wesleyan Invitational.
