WINTER HAVEN, FL – The Amherst College baseball team moved to 5-3 on the season after splitting a doubleheader with Endicott College on Friday. The Lord Jeffs will continue their spring break trip when they take on the University of Southern Maine Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

After dropping the first game to the Gulls, 7-3, Amherst bounced back with an 8-0 win in the nightcap. Max McKenna '11 (Lexington, MA) pitched all seven innings to improve to 2-0 on the season, allowing only five hits in the complete-game effort.

Highlighting the win over Endicott was a two-run homer by Thomas Wheeler '12 (Minnetonka, MN) in the second inning, marking his third long ball in the past four games. Kevin Heller '12 (Brooklyn, NY) also went yard, putting Amherst on the board with a two-run shot in the first inning.

The Lord Jeffs are on pace with last year's team, which won five of its first eight games during the annual southern road trip and returned home with a 6-4 record.
