MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Sarah Duffy '14 scored off a Maya Jackson-Gibson '15 assist just 3:15 into the first overtime to lift the No. 10 Amherst College women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over host Wesleyan Saturday.

The Lord Jeffs extended their unbeaten streak over their Little Three rivals to 22 games (21-0-1) dating back to the last Wesleyan win in 1993.

Amherst improved to 11-1-1 (7-1-1) with the win, while the Cardinals fell to 5-7-1 (2-7-0 NESCAC). With Williams and Middlebury also winning, the Jeffs remain tied with the Panthers for the second spot in the conference standings heading into Wednesday's final matches. Amherst's hopes for the second seed remain fully alive, as the Panthers travel to Williamstown to face the first-place Ephs and the Jeffs visit seventh-place Connecticut College. A win by Middlebury would give the Panthers the top seed in the conference tournament and drop Amherst to no higher than third as all three teams could finish with identical 8-1-1 conference marks.

Duffy netted her sixth goal of the season from just five yard away on the right side, sending the ball into the left edge of the net past Cardinal rookie goalie Rachel Hobert, who took over in the second half after Jess Tollman '15 had recorded five saves while holding the Lord Jeffs off the board during the first period. An anchor of the Amherst defense, the assist marked Jackson-Gibson's first points of the season.

Holly Burwick '16 continued her standout rookie season in goal for the Jeffs, posting her sixth shutout of the year by collecting three stops. Burwick's save of a Laura Kurash '13 shot in the final minute of the first half was key in preserving the shutout.  

Hobert finished with four saves during her 48:15 in the net as Amherst generated a 19-10 edge in shots for the game to go with a 5-1 advantage in corners.

The Jeffs' final regular season game is Wednesday, Oct. 24, with a 3:30 p.m. kickoff at Connecticut College.
