MALDEN, Mass. – Sophomore Will Vosejpka tallied two goals and added a helper as the Amherst College men's ice hockey team got back in the winning column with a 4-2 victory over conference rival Tufts University Saturday evening at Malden Forum.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

• Tufts drew first blood, with Nick Flanagan capitalizing on a power play opportunity midway through the opening period. Chad Goldberg and Brian Brown were credited with the assist on the scoring play.
• Sophomore Patrick Mooney evened the score at 1-1 with 4:47 to play in the first stanza. After working the puck around in the offensive zone, Theo Hannah '16 was able to find an open Mooney on the left point who ripped a shot past the Jumbo net minder.
• Vosejpka would give the Purple & White its first lead of the game with 1:44 remaining, redirecting a shot from Austin Ho '17 into the netting.
• In a momentum building play, Patrick Arena '16 gave Amherst a two-goal cushion just 2:47 into the second period. Corralling a pass from David White '18, Vosejpka dished the puck to Arena who riffled a shot past Nik Nugnes from point blank range.
• Patrick Lackey brought the Jumbos within one score 11:05 into the second period, sending a shot through traffic into the goal.
• Down a man on the penalty kill, Vosejpka delivered the final blow of the contest with just over five minutes to play, beating a defender and sending a shot into the top left corner of the net to give Amherst a 4-2 lead.
• Amherst and Tufts played a scoreless third stanza with the Jumbos holding a slight 7-4 advantage in shots.
• Amherst held a 31-21 shot advantage in the matchup, including a 16-4 edge during the first 20 minutes of play. Vosejpka took a team high six shots, while Nick Flanagan put four shots on frame for Tufts.
• Dave Cunningham '16 (3-2-4) recorded 19 saves in the winning effort, while Nik Nugnes (2-2-2) made 27 saves in between the pipes for the Jumbos.
