Box Score Hartford, Conn. – Connor Girard '18 made 31 saves in net for the Purple & White, but the Amherst College men's ice hockey team fell to conference foe Trinity College, 4-1, Sunday afternoon at Albert Creighton Williams '64 Ice Rink.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Amherst and Trinity finished the opening period in a 1-1 deadlock, with the Purple & White holding a slight 11-10 edge in shots on frame.
- Sophomore Will Vosejpka scored Amherst's only goal of the game just 34 seconds into the first stanza. Vosejpka collected the rebound from a shot by Theo Hannah '16 in front of the net and rifled into the top left corner of the net.
- Ross Mandigo evened the score at 1-1 four minutes later. Despite being down a skater on the penalty kill, a well-placed breakout pass from Anthonty Sabitsky found Mandigo on a breakaway.
- The Bantams held the momentum in the second period, scoring three times in the first seven minutes to give Trinity a 4-1 lead.
- Ryan Pfeffer scored what turned out to be the game-winner at the 1:19 mark in the second, tipping a shot from the point by TJ Sherman past Girard.
- Trinity struck again less than a minute later as Connor Hegarty sent a shot from the top of the right circle into the bottom left corner of the goal.
- Ryan Cole added the final insurance tally for the Bantams, sending a shot from point blank range over the blocker of the Amherst net minder at the 6:52 mark.
- The two sides played to a scoreless final period, with the Bantams holding a 9-3 advantage in shots.
- Vosejpka led Amherst with five shots on target, while Austin Ho '17 put four shots on frame for the Purple & White. Ryan Cole of Trinity led all skaters with six shots on net in the matchup.
- Girard (1-5-0) registered 31 saves in the loss, while Nathaniel Heilbron (6-2-1) recorded 22 saves in the outing.

- The Purple & White face off against Bowdoin College on Friday, Feb. 5 beginning at 7 p.m. The game marks the first of a four game home stand.
