Box Score CLINTON, N.Y. – The Amherst College women's basketball team used a game-high, 17-point effort from Ali Doswell '17, and the 6/7th-ranked Purple & White defense held Hamilton College to single digits in three of four quarters to help seal a 55-38 win Saturday afternoon at Scott Field House in Clinton, N.Y.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ali Doswell led all players in scoring with 17 points on the strength of 4-for-8 efficiency from the field, and a 9-for-10 effort at the charity stripe. Hannah Hackley '18 connected on 6-of-12 from the field and registered 14 points, and she and Ali Doswell totaled six rebounds each.
- Meredith Doswell '17 finished with a game-high eight boards and six points, while Jackie Nagle '17 chipped in eight points and seven rebounds to go along with three blocked shots. Hackley, Nagle and Ali Doswell finished with three steals each.
- Hamilton was led by Sam Graber who scored 14 points and dished out four assists. Lauren Getman collected eight points, while Carly Gruenberg notched a team-high six rebounds.
FIRST HALF HIGHLIGHTS
- In the opening period, Nagle hit the second of two free throws to start the scoring in the contest, before Graber answered with a trey, and Getman connected on a jumper to give Hamilton a 5-1 lead at the 6:13 mark.
- The Continentals saw their edge quickly evaporate as the Purple & White scored nine unanswered points as Ali Doswell, Hackley, and Nagle each netted buckets down low, while Haley Zwecker '16 capped the run with a strike from beyond-the-arc to give Amherst a 10-5 lead with 3:12 remaining in the stanza.
- Amherst scored six of the next 10 points to claim a 16-9 lead after 10 minutes of play.
- In the second quarter, a Getman swish from long distance pulled the hosts to within four (18-14) with 8:22 on the clock, but a 9-2 run by the Purple & White helped the visitors take a 27-16 lead into halftime.
SECOND HALF HIGHLIGHTS
- The third period saw Amherst outscore Hamilton, 17-9 as the Purple & White went an impressive 8-for-10 from the free throw line including a 4-for-4 effort from Ali Doswell, and a 3-for-4 showing from Nagle.
- Despite being edged in the fourth stanza, 13-11, Amherst notched its largest lead of the game (20 points) when Ali Doswell hit the front end of two shots from the free throw line to set the score at 45-25 with 8:45 remaining in the contest.
- Nagle picked up four of her seven boards in the final frame to help the Purple & White clinch the win.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Ali Doswell has now scored 999 points in her three years with the program and is just one point shy of reaching the 1,000-point milestone.
