PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Amherst College men's squash team suffered a 9-0 defeat at the hands of #20 Brown University on Tuesday afternoon at the Kate Brodsky Squash Pavilion.

Mateen Mills '20 took his opponent to five sets at the #8 position and Mohammad Khawaja ''19 forced a fourth game at #3, but the Bears won seven of nine matches by a 3-0 margin, led by senior Thomas Blecher at number one, who earned a 11-7, 11-7, 11-3 decision.

Mills took a 3-1 lead on Charlie Blasberg, but Blasberg rallied to win the final two games 11-5, 11-5 to claim the point.

Arnav Parikh '21 pushed Ben Carabello to five sets in an exhibition match as well.

Also winning by 3-0 margins were junior Philip Demeulenaere at number two, sophomore Blake Gilbert-Bono at four, senior Thomas Walker at five, sophomore Harrison Boyer at six, freshman William Glaser at seven and freshman John Paul Champa at nine.

Amherst returns to their home court on Friday afternoon when they welcome in Dickinson and MIT for the Pioneer Valley Round Robin, beginning at 2:00 PM.

The Bears are in action again on Thursday, January 18 against Dickinson at the Pizzitola Sports Center, starting at 5:30 pm.
