WATERVILLE, Maine – The Amherst College men's swimming and diving team opened the 2022-23 season by winning 11 of 16 events en route to a 166-107 victory over NESCAC rival Colby on Saturday afternoon at the Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center.

Michael Jang each won two individual events for the Mammoths in the season-opening dual meet. Jang was one of four Amherst first-years that won an event in their collegiate debuts.
The Mammoths are back in action on Monday (Nov. 21), visiting Little Three rival Wesleyan for a dual meet at 5 p.m.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
* Olson, a transfer from Penn, made his Mammoth debut by teaming with junior

Andrew Yuen to win the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:33.49. Olson went on to win the 100-yard backstroke in 51.37 and the 100-yard butterfly in 50.13.
* Jang swept the breastroke events in his collegiate debut, winning the 100-yard breaststroke in 57.99 and capturing the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:06.90.
* Knightly was a victor in two freestyle races, winning the 100-yard freestyle in 47.41 and clocking a time of 1:43.06 in the 200-yard freestyle.

Jack D'Alessandro won his first collegiate race, touching first in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:56.69.

Henry LeCates picked up a win in his first collegiate race, completing the 200-yard freestyle in 1:55.61.

Jonah Luetke picked up his first collegiate win with a time of 1:53.71 in the 200-yard backstroke.
* Junior
Will Taylor led an Amherst sweep of the top four spots in the 500-yard freestyle, winning with a time of 4:42.62.
