AMHERST, Mass. – Three Mammoths scored hat tricks to lead the Amherst College men's lacrosse team to a 14-10 win over archrival Williams on Saturday afternoon in NESCAC action on Pratt Field at Lehrman Stadium. A stretch of six unanswered goals in the second quarter put the Mammoths in control of the game.
The Mammoths, ranked 20th in the nation in the latest USILA Division III Poll, improved to 7-5 overall and 5-3 in conference play with their third straight win, while the 18th-ranked Ephs fell to 6-6 overall and 4-3 in the NESCAC. The Mammoths honored their senior class before the game.
The Mammoths are back in action on Saturday, April 23, visiting 19th-ranked Middlebury for a NESCAC showdown at 3 p.m.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
* Senior captain Tim Saffold put the Ephs on the board first but first-year attack
Dylan Hsu answered for the Mammoths to tie the game with his third goal of the season less than a minute later, kicking off a string of three Amherst goals in less than three minutes as junior midfielder

Carter Tate scored in quick succession.
* Williams responded with three straight goals as sophomore attack Calvin Caputo scored a pair before Saffold gave the Ephs a 4-3 lead but Mammoths junior attack
Brock Gonzalez scored with nine seconds to go in the first quarter to tie the score.
* After sophomore Pearse Glavin gave the Ephs the lead early in the second quarter, sophomore midfielder
Connor Guest scored 29 seconds later to level the score once again and kick off a stretch of six straight Amherst goals that included a pair from Gonzalez and was capped by Tate's second of the game to put the Mammoths up by a 10-5 margin with 4:38 left in the second quarter.
* The Mammoths held the lead throughout the second half. Junior midfielder
Tanyr Krummenacher scored twice in the third quarter, completing his hat trick to put the Mammoths up, 14-8, with 13 seconds left in the third. The Mammoths were held scoreless in the fourth but allowed only two Williams goals and secured the victory.
