Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

#22 Mammoths defeat #8 Bowdoin Polar Bears in a decisive 1-0 win

BRUNSWICK, Me. -- Niall Murphy's goal in the 55th minute Sunday afternoon put the #3 NESCAC ranked Amherst men's soccer team on top, against the #2 NESCAC ranked Bowdoin men's soccer in a 1-0 win.

"It was great having Jonny Novak and Ben Clark Eden back in the lineup today. Both those guys are integral to our energy and toughness and they played like the all league players they are today." said head coach Justin Serpone.  "This has been a crazy stretch of games. I think it was twelve games in 32 days. We've had to play away at Middlebury, Conn, Tufts and Bowdoin – all of which are some of the best teams in the country so far. I'm proud of the guys for staying focused through it all."

The Mammoths are now 8-3-2 overall, and return to play on October 15th at 3pm against #3 Montclair State University in Montclair NJ.

In preparation for next weekend's game Serpone said, "I know we have Montclair State next Sunday but it's fall break so I told the guys to get away from soccer for a few days. It's hard to win games in this league and we're going to enjoy this one a little longer than usual."
