AMHERST, Mass. – Junior
Jaden Olson won two individual races and a relay to help the Amherst College men's swimming and diving team to a 166-122 victory over NESCAC rival Colby College in a season-opening dual meet on Saturday afternoon at Pratt Pool.
The win came in the collegiate head coaching debut of Amherst head coach
Connor Beaulieu '14.
The Mammoths return to the water on Monday (Nov. 20), visiting Little Three rival Wesleyan for a 5 p.m. dual meet.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
* Olson led off the 200-yard medley relay, followed by senior
Jeff Gerber, sophomore
Fynlan Nadel and junior
Andrew Bernstein, with the quartet winning the race in 1:34.73.
* Olson went on to win the 100-yard backstroke in 51.25 and the 100-yard butterfly in 50.92.
* Senior
Will Taylor swept the distance races, winning the 1000-yard freestyle in 10:18.60 and the 500-yard freestyle in 4:48.63.
* Junior
Tor Metelmann also won a pair of races, capturing the 100-yard breaststroke in 57.87 and the 200-yard individual medley in 1:54.67.
* Bernstein won the closest race of the day, edging his teammate, junior
Andrew Yuen, by one-hundredth of a second to take the 100-yard freestyle in 48.01.
* Senior
Tyler Knightly was a winner in the 200-yard freestyle, clocking in at 1:44.60.
* First-year
Henry Liu picked up a win in his collegiate debut, capturing the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:06.42.
