Ali Lacroix and first-year
Paige Arnold each won two individual races after helping the Mammoths win the opening relay race as the Amherst College women's swimming and diving team opened the new season with a 178.5-114.5 win over Colby College in a dual meet on Saturday afternoon at Pratt Pool.
The season-opening win was the first on the ledger of Amherst head coach
Connor Beaulieu '14, who was making his collegiate head coaching debut.
The Mammoths return to the water on Monday (Nov. 20), visiting Little Three rival Wesleyan for a 5 p.m. dual meet.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
* Lacroix and Arnold teamed with juniors
Cora Spelke and
Megan Lee to win the 200-yard medley relay to open the meet, clocking in at 1:50.80.
* Arnold went on to win the 200-yard freestyle in in 1:55.51 and the 200-yard individual medley in 2:09.71 in the collegiate debut for the first-year.
* Lacroix swept the breaststroke races, winning the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:06.90 and the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:26.47.

Maeve Kelley swept the distance races in her collegiate debut, winning the 1000-yard freestyle in 10:30.08 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:09.88.
* Junior
Sydney Bluestein swept the diving events with a six-dive score of 281.99 on the one-meter board, the event in which she is the defending national champion, and 258.97 on the three-meter board.
* First-year
Lucy Smith won her first individual collegiate race, touching first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.39 seconds.

Sabrina Comess won the 100-yard butterfly in a personal-best time of 1:00.35.
