AMHERST, Mass. – The Amherst College volleyball team notched its second sweep in as many days, posting a 25-18, 25-15, 25-17 victory over Connecticut College in NESCAC action on Saturday afternoon at the Luce Fieldhouse.
The Mammoths improved to 5-6 overall, snapping Connecticut College's five-match winning streak and dropping the Camels to 8-5 overall as both squads left the court with 2-3 records in NESCAC play.
The Mammoths will now play seven of their final eight regular-season matches at home in LeFrak Gymnasium, beginning on Friday (Oct. 6) against Trinity at 7 p.m.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS:
* A back-and-forth first set saw an Amherst lead of 7-3 and a Connecticut College lead of 16-14, but a kill by senior
Carly Cooper to tie the set at 17-17 kicked off a run that saw the Mammoths take 9 of the final 10 points of the set, ending the set on a block by junior
Kinsey Cronin to give Amherst a 25-18 set.
* The second set reached a 6-6 tie before the Mammoths took control with a 14-4 run to take a 20-10 lead on a service ace from sophomore
Charlotte Rasmussen. The Camels took the next three points before the Mammoths closed out the set on a kill from first-year
Brielle Renwick to win by a 25-15 margin.
* The Mammoths raced out to a fast start in the third set, taking a 12-3 lead before the Camels strung together consecutive points. Connecticut College pulled back within four points to make the score 20-16, but the Mammoths took five of the final six points to clinch the match on a service error.

* Rasmussen led the Mammoths with 12 kills.
* Cooper notched 27 assists and added two service aces.
