AMHERST, Mass. -- Sophomore goalkeeper
Brooks Catlin made 16 saves - 7 in the fourth quarter and 3 in the final 94 seconds -- as the 13th-ranked Amherst College men's lacrosse team defeated Trinity, 6-5, Wednesday night on Gooding Field..
* Trinity led 5-4 at the half but was held scoreless for the final 30 minutes by Amherst. The Mammoths scored twice in the third quarter to take a 6-5 lead. Neither team scored in the fourth quarter. It's the fewest goals allowed by the Mammoths in a game since March 20, 2018, a 13-4 win over Endicott College. Its the fewest goals Amherst has scored in a win since April 23rd, 2011.
With the win, the Mammoths concluded the regular season with a 10-5 overall record, 6-4 in the conference. Trinity finished 9-6 overall and 5-5 in NESCAC play. Both teams await word on their final seeding and NESCAC quarterfinal opponent. The quarterfinals will be played Saturday, April 27th.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
* Trinity scored the first three goals of the game to take a 3-0 lead, but Amherst scored two goals 11 seconds apart in the final minute of the period to make it 3-2 Trinity after one.

Bennett Chow scored unassisted with 53 seconds left in the quarter, followed up 11 seconds later on a goal by
Ben Bruno, who was set up by
Jake Bennett.
* Down 4-2,
Brendan Reilly scored his 40th goal of the season with 13:39 left in the second stanza to make it 4-3. Just 15 seconds later,
Nicholas Kopp would score off another Bennett assists to tie the game at 4-all.
* Trinity led 5-4 at the half as Amherst could not find the twine again. John Krikorian put the Bantams up 5-4, scoring a man-up goal with 1:25 left in the half. That would be the final Trinity goal of the game.
* Nearly 12 minutes went by in the third before Bennett scored off a Chow assist with 3:06 remaining to tie the game 5-5. Just 22 seconds later, Amherst had its first and final lead as
Matthew Sheinberg scored from Reilly.
* Trinity put the pressure on in the fourth, outshooting Amherst 14-7. With 3:33 remaining, Catlin made a save on a John Cowdrick shot. With 1:34 remaining, Trinity's Davis Burelson fired a shot that Catlin snagged before it could find the top corner of the goal.
* The Bantams were in a man-up situation for the final 27.6 seconds. Catlin robbed Bo Page of the tying goal with 14 ticks on the clock. It was a ow shot he seemed to smother as it nearly rolled over the goal line. At the buzzer, Bantam Matt Pecrora fired a final shot that Caitlin snagged.
