Mammoths Cruise to a 4-1 Victory over Worcester State

WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Amherst College women's ice hockey earned a decisive 4-1 victory over Worcester State, powered by a dominant first period and a two-goal performance from Maeve Reynolds.

The Mammoths struck early, opening the scoring at 2:44 of the first period when Gretchen Dann found the back of the net off a feed from Emily Hohmann. Amherst doubled its advantage midway through the period as Calleigh Brown converted Natalie Fu's assist at 11:10. Just over three minutes later, Reynolds added her first of the night, again assisted by Hohmann, giving Amherst a commanding 3-0 lead after one.

Worcester State briefly cut into the deficit early in the second period when Leyla Tiernan scored unassisted at 1:14, but the Amherst defense held firm the rest of the way. In the third period, Reynolds sealed the win at 14:27 with her second goal of the game, set up by Bea Flynn, to make it 4-1.

Amherst also controlled the face-off circle, led by Calleigh Brown's 10 wins, while Annabel Raffin (9 wins) and Reynolds (7 wins) contributed key draws as the Mammoths cruised to the convincing victory.
