AMHERST, MA. – Junior forward
Mohammed Nuhu (Accra, Ghana) and sophomore midfielder
Michael Cherico (Fountain Valley, Calif.) were named to the 2025 United Soccer Coaches (USC) All Region I team, as announced by the organization today.
Nuhu earned a first-team All-Region honor after leading the Mammoths with 15 total points on 6 goals and 3 assists in 17 games. Always Amherst's offensive engine, the junior put up 3 games of 3 or more points and finished the year in the NESCAC top-10 in shots, shots on goal, goals, and points. He also led the conference in game-winning goals with 4. Nuhu's third consecutive USC All-Region selection is his second accolade of the season, also having been awarded a 2025 All-NESCAC First Team selection last month.
Cherico was awarded a Second Team selection after following up a stellar first year with another solid performance in 2025. Cherico was a key cog in the Mammoth midfield, especially with his play out of the air and high work rate on both sides of the ball. Although injuries limited him to 13 games, 11 of which he started, Cherico recorded 1 goal and 1 assist, including the opening goal in a late season win versus Hamilton. This is Cherico's first All-Region honor, and his second accolade of the season after he earned a Second Team All-NESCAC nod earlier this season.
The Mammoths finished the 2025 season with an 8-6-3 overall record, earned a spot in the NESCAC Tournament, and made NESCAC Quarterfinal and NCAA Tournament appearances.
