Piper Lentz punched the Mammoths' first ticket to the New England Division III Championships as the Amherst College indoor track and field team kicked off the indoor season with a handful of middle distance races at two different meets on Saturday. All of the other Mammoths competing at both Boston University and Wesleyan University posted provisional qualifying marks for the NED3 Indoor Championships.
The Mammoths will return to action on January 16-17 with a trip to Vermont for the Middlebury Winter Classic.

* Lentz ran the mile in 5:02.33 to qualify automatically for New Englands and place 22nd. Junior
Zoë Marcus was close behind with a time of 5:08.61 to place 25th. Lentz and Marcus were the top Division III finishers in a deep field stacked with Division I talent and were both running the mile for the second time in their collegiate careers.

Leila Davani ran a time of 1:37.29 in her second collegiate 600m race to finish 11th. First-year
Josie McLaughlin was just behind in 1:39.52 to claim 12th place. Sophomore
Hannah Adhikari finished 14th in 1:40.13.

Katie Greenwald finished second with a time of 17:59.32, while sophomore
