MIDDLETOWN, CT —
The Amherst College women's basketball team traveled to Middletown, Connecticut, on Tuesday evening to take on the Wesleyan University Cardinals at 7 p.m. in Silloway Gymnasium. The Mammoths led by a small margin throughout the first half, and although the Cardinals tied the game at 33–33 early in the third quarter, Amherst responded with a dominant run to secure a 17-point victory.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

Amherst opened the game with strong defensive intensity, paired with key drives from Annie McCarthy, to take a 17–10 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Mammoths maintained momentum in the second quarter, though the Cardinals began to push back. A late buzzer-beater from a Wesleyan guard cut into the lead, but Amherst still held a 7-point advantage at halftime.

Wesleyan scored on three straight possessions to tie the game at 33–33 in the third, but the Mammoths quickly countered, closing the quarter up by 11.

Amherst continued to control the pace in the fourth quarter and remained steady against Wesleyan's full-court press, ultimately sealing a 17-point win.

Annie McCarthy led the Mammoths with 19 points, followed by Elizabeth Cain with 13 points and Anna Tranum with 11 points.

Brielle Renwick led the Mammoths from the free-throw line (shooting 87.5%) with 7 of her 9 points coming from foul shots.

As a team, the Mammoths shot 39.1% from the field, 33.3% from the 3-point line, and 80.0% from the free-throw line.
