Jack Goepfrich earned Rookie of the Year honors as the Amherst College men's swimming and diving team finished third at the 2025 NESCAC Championships as action concluded on Sunday at Middlebury College. Senior
Gabriele Lunardi earned All-NESCAC honors on the final day of the meet, giving the Mammoths eight All-NESCAC performances in the meet.
The Mammoths, ranked 18th in the nation in the latest CSCAA Division III poll, tallied 1252 points to place in the top three for the eighth consecutive conference championship. Williams won its sixth straight championship with 1801.5 points.
Goepfrich is the fourth Amherst swimmer to win the Rookie of the Year award and first since Scott Romeyn '22 in 2019. Goepfrich earned All-NESCAC honors with a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle and was the top first-year in the 100-yard freestyle, placing fifth.
The Mammoths will now await selections on Wednesday, Feb. 26, to learn who will be invited to the NCAA Division III Championships from March 19–22, in Greensboro, North Carolina.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
* Lunardi earned his second career All-NESCAC finish by placing third in the 1650-yard freestyle, the longest event of the meet. Lunardi touched in an NCAA B-cut time of 15:40.44 that ranks among the top 20 in Division III this season.

Ethan Van De Water set a new school record in the 200-yard medley relay in a time trial. The quartet bettered their own record from earlier in the meet with a mark of 1:28.17, an NCAA B-cut that ranks among the top 20 in Division III this season.
