AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- Ryan McIntyre went 4 for 5 with 3 RBIs and Ben Smith was 2 for 3 with 4 RBIs as the Amherst College baseball team opened its spring trip with a 13-6 victory over No 2/5-ranked Endicott College at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex.

The Mammoths improved to 3-3 on the season. They will face Rowan College Monday at Northeast Regional Park in Davenport at 11 a.m.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

* After falling behind 2-0 in the top of the first, Amherst responded with three in its half of the inning when Leo Foust was hit by a pitch, Jack Sampedro single and McIntyre crushed a three-run home run to right-center field for a 3-2 lead.

* The Mammoths added two in the second. Justin Orridge drew a lead-off walk and Smith lined a deep shot to center field that one-hopped the wall and went for an RBI-triple. Smith then scored on a wild pitch for a 5-2 Mammoth lead.

* Endicott scored two runs in the top of the fourth to tie the game, 5-5. But the Mammoths had the answer, scoring five times in their half of the fourth to take a commanding 10-5 lead. Aiden Dubetsky led off with a single. After an out, Foust doubled to left. Sampedro then lined a two-run single to right center for a 7-5 Amherst lead. After a McIntyre single, Charlie LaFraniere was it by a pitch to load the bases and Tyler McCord followed with another two-run single for a 9-5 lead.
