#18 Amherst Falls to #14 Rochester, 6-3, to Conclude CSA Nationals Campaign

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The #18 Amherst College men's squash team wrapped up their 2024 season with a 6-3 loss to #14 University of Rochester in their final match at the CSA Divisional Team Championships at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center. The Mammoths fought hard, securing three individual wins, but ultimately fell short against a strong Rochester lineup.

Season Recap: With this result, Amherst finishes the season with a national ranking of #18, making them the fifth-highest ranked NESCAC team behind Trinity, Williams, Tufts, and Colby. The Mammoths compiled an overall match record of 86-103 in individual contests, with lots of competitive battles. 

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Sophomore Joseph Toth capped off an outstanding season with a four-set victory at #3, securing his 14th win of the season.
  • First-year Graeme Herbert battled through a five-set match at #7, winning 11-5 in the decider to notch another point for Amherst.
  • Junior Matthew Granovsky continued his strong play in the lower lineup, earning a four-set win at #8 to close out his season on a high note.
  • Sophomore Flynn Venmore pushed his match to five sets in a marathon battle at #4, falling just short with a 12-10 loss in the decider.
