#13 Amherst Falls to #15 Georgetown in CSA Nationals Final, Finishes as Kurtz Cup Runner-Up

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The #13 Amherst College women's squash team wrapped up their 2024 season as Kurtz Cup runners-up after a hard-fought 7-2 loss to the #15 Georgetown University Hoyas in the Kurtz Cup of the  CSA Divisional Team Championships final at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center. The Mammoths battled throughout, pushing four matches to a deciding fifth set, but ultimately fell short in their final team match of the season.

Season Recap: With this result, Amherst concludes the season with an impressive overall record of 17-6. The Mammoths showcased remarkable depth and consistency, with 10 different players recording at least 10 individual wins throughout the campaign. In individual matches, Amherst enjoyed 150 wins and just 57 losses.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Senior Isabelle Tilney-Sandberg ended her Amherst career on a high note, securing a four-set victory at the #8 spot, including a dominant 11-0 finish in the final game.
  • First-year Clara Dawn delivered another clutch performance, overcoming a first-game loss to win in four sets at #9.
  • First-year Brigid Brandon fought through a five-set battle at #5, forcing a decider before falling just short in an intense 48-minute match.
