#13 Amherst Closes Stag Hen Invitational with Statement Win over #29 Pomona-Pitzer, 6-1

CLAREMONT, CA – The #13 Amherst College men's tennis team capped off their Southern California spring break trip with a dominant 6-1 victory over the #29 Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens on Saturday morning at the Pauley Tennis Complex. The win marked Amherst's second straight and secured a strong finish at the Stag Hen Invitational.

Up Next: Amherst moves to 8-3 on the season (2-1 versus NESCAC teams). Next weekend, the Mammoths return home to Massachusetts to resume NESCAC play next weekend. They'll host Trinity College on Saturday, March 29 at 12 PM ET, with the match location to be determined between Amherst's outdoor courts and the Ludlow Tennis Center based on weather.

HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Sophomores Spencer Leung with Rex Harrison at the #2 doubles spot and senior Sujit Chepuri with first-year Albert Hu at the #3 doubles spot earned crucial wins to give Amherst the doubles point heading into the singles matches.
  • The Mammoths then won five out of six singles matching, with sophomore Rex Harrison winning his singles match in three sets to clinch the overall win. 
  • George Chaidemenos continued his strong form at the #6 spot; the Greek junior remains unbeaten with a season record of 6-0.
