SMITHTOWN, R.I. -- First-year
Flora Biro of the Amherst College women's track and field team placed third out of 60 competitors in the 1500m on the second day of competition at the Black and Gold Invitational.
The Mammoths placed eighth overall with 40 points out of 16 teams, finishing as the top Division III team. Division I Bryant University won the meet with 148.5 points and New Hampshire (113) and Merrimack (94) rounded out the top three.
Amherst will resume competition hosting the Amherst Spring Fling on Saturday, April 5 at 10 a.m.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS:
* In the 1500m, Biro placed third out of 60 competitors in her 1500m debut, registering a time of 4:39.49 while junior
Piper Lentz placed ninth overall clocking in a time of 4:47.73.

Arissa Grace McGowan finished eighth in the 100m hurdles, posting a time of 16.15 seconds.

Nikki Chopra placed fourth overall producing a two-minute personal best time of 17:36.99 while first-year
Nora Hart placed just behind in 17:37.90, improving her personal best by almost a minute.
* The 4 x 800m relay team of
Hannah Adhikari, Lentz,
Audrey Seeger, and Marcus finished second overall notching a time of 9:26.26.
* In the field, first-year
Sophia Ford placed ninth in the long jump, recording a mark of 4.94m.
