#11 Amherst Defeats #19 Wesleyan in NESCAC Quarterfinal, 4–2

MIDDLEBURY, VT – The #11 Amherst College men's tennis team advanced to the semifinals of the 2025 NESCAC Tournament with a gritty 4–2 victory over the #19 Wesleyan University Cardinals on Friday morning at the Middlebury Outdoor Tennis Courts. Despite dropping the doubles point, the Mammoths surged back in singles to take four of five completed matches and secure a spot in the semifinal round.

Up Next: With the win, Amherst improves to 15–6 overall and remains 7–3 in NESCAC play. The Mammoths will face the #9 Bowdoin College Polar Bears in Saturday's semifinal after the Polar Bears defeated the #22 Hamilton College Continentals 4–0 in their quarterfinal. That match is scheduled for 11 AM on the Middlebury Outdoor Tennis Courts (weather permitting).

HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Sophomore Andreas Sillaste and senior Edred Opie earned their 12th win of the season at #1 doubles with a 6–3 victory.
  • Next, Sillaste dominated at the top singles spot, defeating Harrison Collomb 6–0, 6–2 to tie the overall score at 1–1.
  • Senior Sujit Chepuri clinched the match for the Mammoths with a 6–3, 6–3 win at #5 singles, propelling Amherst into the NESCAC semifinals.
