AMHERST, Mass. -- Three members of the Amherst College baseball team earned ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III Region I All-Region honors when they were announced today.

Senior utility player Jack Sampedro (Miami, Fla.) was selected to the All-Region First Team while senior shortstop Ryan McIntyre (Larchmont, N.Y.) earned All-Region Second Team honors and sophomore pitcher E.J. Nevills (Westwood, Mass.) was recognized to the All-Region Third Team.

Sampedro earns his second career All-Region honor while also collecting a third All-NESCAC Team selection this year. The senior recorded a .351 batting average on 47 hits and 34 RBIs this season, which rank as fifth and sixth in the NESCAC, respectively. On the mound, the sidearm pitcher served as one of the Mammoths' primary closers, going 3-3 on the year with four saves and a 2.70 ERA.

Though one of the leaders throughout his career, McIntyre finally got that recognition from the NESCAC as the senior was awarded the Defensive Player of the Year. Defensively, he compiled a .961 fielding percentage while quarterbacking the Mammoths' defense. He also registered a team-leading 18 double plays and notched 68 assists. A complete player, he did his part on offense, producing a .344 batting average (top 20 in the NESCAC) and hitting four home runs this season. These honors put the cherry on top of an incredible career in which McIntyre was a three-time All-NESCAC selection and two-time All-Region selection to date.

In addition to the ABCA All-Region selection, Nevills earned a spot on the All-NESCAC First Team for the first time in his career. The sophomore dominated on the mound for the Mammoths this season, recording a 2.40 ERA (second in the NESCAC) while acting as the team's ace and pitching the all-important second game of all their conference series. He went 4-1 in seven starts this season, and recorded one save in 45 innings pitched. Nevills did not give up a home run all year.

Amherst ended the season with an 18-16 overall record, including a 9-3 record in NESCAC play. Their play earned them a place in the NESCAC Tournament Quarterfinal, which they hosted for the second straight year.
