PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- The Amherst College baseball rallied from an early four-run hole Tuesday, but ultimately fell to the Stevens Institute of Technology by a 12-8 score to fall to 4-2 on the season.
The Mammoths are off Wednesday before battling Macalester College Thursday at 10 a.m. back at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex, Field #5.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
* Down 4-0 after the top of the first, the Mammoths rallied for five runs in the bottom of the second to take a 5-4 lead.

Justin Orridge reached first on an error to open the inning and with two outs, advanced to third on consecutive wild pitches.
Matthew Chen and
Jackson Boyer drew walks to load thitse bases and another wild pitch allowed Orridge to score.
Carson Ames then walked to re-load the bases before
Leo Foust came through with a two-run single that made it 4-3.
Charlie LaFreniere walked to load the bases once again and
Tyler McCord worked another free pass to force home a run and earn an RBI. Orridge then drew yet another freebie to force home another run and give Amherst a 5-4 lead.
* The Ducks would score twice in the sixth to re-take the lead at 6-5 and added five more in the 7th and one in the 8th to build a 12-5 lead.
* The Mammoths put together one last rally in the bottom of the eighth, scoring three times one hit -- an RBI-single from LaFreniere.
BY THE NUMBERS:
* Amherst had five hits -- one each for Foust, LaFreniere, Boyer, Ames and
J.J. Grimes.
