Noelani Schulmeyer enters her second season at Amherst as an assistant coach.
Prior to coming to Amherst, Schulmeyer was a graduate assistant at Catholic University in Washington D.C., (2020-2022) after spending the 2019 season as an assistant coach at her alma mater, Washington and Lee University. The field hockey program's accomplishments while she was at Catholic include a Landmark Conference Runner-up finish; 3 All-Landmark selections, in 2021; 1 All-Sportsmanship Team selection, in 2021; 17 Landmark Academic Honor Roll selections, in 2021 and 14 NFHCA National Academic Squad Selections, also in 2021.
While at W&L, Schulmeyer helped create practice and game plans, conduct individual player meetings and worked with the goalkeepers. The Generals finished the season with a 10-8 record, advancing to semifinals of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Field Hockey Championship.
A 2017 graduate of Washington and Lee with a bachelor's degree in English with minors in creative writing and film & media studies, Schulmeyer spent the fall of 2018 as an assistant field hockey coach at Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles, California. This spring, she was selected to serve as a Futures Coach in Region 7 for USA Field Hockey.
As four-year letterwinner for the Generals, Schulmeyer was a two-time All-ODAC Third Team selection and earned ODAC Rookie of the Year honors in 2013. She played in 74 of the team's 77 games as a defender while making 66 starts and totaling 31 points, 12 goals, seven assists and nine defensive saves. W&L improved from a 5-15 record her first year to 13 wins her senior season, the most for the team since 2006. She served as a team captain as a junior and senior, leading the team to back-to-back ODAC championship game appearances.
Schulmeyer earned all-conference honors as a senior, starting all 20 games and registering career highs in goals (6), assists (5) and points (17) while helping lead a defense that led the ODAC with a 1.35 goals-against average and posted five shutouts. As a freshman, she earned her first all-conference selection after playing in all 20 of the team's games and making 19 starts while leading the team and ranking fourth in the conference with eight defensive saves.
Off the field, Schulmeyer has worked as a teacher and Director of Social Media for the World Series of Youth Lacrosse. She has also worked in the film industry in Los Angeles.
A native of Glen Arm, Md., Schulmeyer received her USA Field Hockey Level 1 Certification in Fall 2019.
She received her Masters of Science in Management and Leadership (M.S.M) from Catholic University in 2022.
