Bringing five years of prior coaching experience to the Mammoths, Danny Feldman enters his second season as an assistant coach for the Amherst College men’s cross country program and the men’s and women’s track & field teams.
Feldman comes to the Pioneer Valley following a two-year stint as the head coach of the cross country and track teams at Convent of the Sacred Heart in New York, N.Y. Taking over the reins of the programs in 2015, Feldman led the varsity cross country squad to two runner-up state finishes – the best finishes for the Cardinals at the state meet in over 20 years.
Prior to Sacred Heart, Feldman acted as an assistant coach for the cross country and track & field teams at Washington University in St. Louis (2014-15), helping both the men’s & women’s cross country programs claim fourth overall at the 2014 NCAA DIII Championships and the women’s outdoor track & field team earn third at the national meet in 2014.
Tabbed as the head girl’s track & field coach at nearby Amherst Pelham High School, Feldman began his coaching career in 2012-13 while simultaneously working towards his Masters of Public Health in community health education at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, before acting as a volunteer assistant coach for Division I Northern Arizona University’s cross country and track & field teams for a season (2013-14). At NAU, Feldman helped guide a men’s cross country program that finished the fall as the NCAA DI National Runner-Up.
A native of Haddonfield, N.J., Feldman was a two-year member of the track & field team at the University of Mary Washington, competing in the javelin, discus, hammer and weight throws. He graduated from Mary Washington in 2010 with bachelor's degrees in German and Business Administration and received his Masters of Public Health from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst in 2013.
