MIDDLEBURY, VT - The Amherst College men's soccer team was blanked at NESCAC foe Middlebury College, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Jeffs fell to 3-3-1 overall and 1-2 in conference play while the Panthers improved to 4-2-2 and 3-1-1. First-year goalkeeper Greg Lockwood (Vancouver, WA) recorded six saves in the losing effort.
Middlebury drew first blood 43:08 into the game when Brian Lavin gathered a rebound off a shot by Jake Armstrong and blasted a shot into the back of the net. The Panthers added an insurance tally with under one minute remaining when Kellan Florio took a nifty pass from Matt Haddad and burried a shot in transition. Panther goaltender David Lindholm notched three saves to earn the shutout.
Amherst returns to action Thursday at 4:30 p.m. against visiting NESCAC foe Connecticut College.
