Jeffs Down 13th Ranked Springfield, 3-2, in Overtime



SPRINGFIELD, MA – Senior forward Abby Ouimet (Hatfield, MA) scored the game-winning goal 14:09 into overtime to lead the Amherst College field hockey team to a dramatic 3-2 win at 13th ranked non-league foe Springfield College on Wednesday night. The Jeffs improved to 3-2 with the win, while Springfield fell to 4-3 with it first home loss in five games on campus. 

Seniors Katherine Ryan (Westborough, MA) and Carlyn Lamia (Chevy Chase, MD) also cracked the scoring column for Amherst, assisted by sophomore Erin Leydon (Bridgeton, ME) and junior Christine Ryan (Summit, NJ), respectively. Sophomore goalie K.C. Cosentino (Greenwich, CT) finished with six saves. 

Amherst will vie for its first conference win Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at NECAC rival Bowdoin College.
