Jeffs Fall at Sixth-Ranked Williams, 5-2

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - The Amherst College men's soccer team fell at sixth-ranked NESCAC and Little Three rival Williams College on Saturday, 5-2. First-year Brett Olsen led the Ephs with two goals and an assist. Amherst senior co-captain Frank Perry (Hartford, CT) had two goals in the loss.

Perry put the Jeffs ahead 1-0 off a feed from sophomore Christian Alexander (Santa Fe, NM) at the 22:09 mark, but Williams answered less than a minute later to even the score. Williams rookie John Hillman made it 2-1 just under 35 minutes into the game and the Ephs took the lead into the break. Fifty-one seconds into the second half, sophomore Josh Bolton increased Williams' lead to 3-1. Perry tried to rally a comeback, with his team-best ninth goal of the year, scoring off an assist from fellow quad-captain Jeff Cantwell (Randolph, NJ) with just over 32 minutes remaining in regulation to cut the lead to one. However, Olsen squashed any hope the Jeffs had with two unassisted goals to cap Williams' scoring.

Amherst sophomore Greg Lockwood (Vancouver, WA) had six saves in net, as the Jeffs dropped to 9-3-1 (5-2-1 NESCAC). Williams remained undefeated in NESCAC play and improved to 10-1-1 (7-0-1 NESCAC) as sophomore goalkeeper Nick Armington collected four saves in the win

Ranked fourth in New England, Amherst hosts NESCAC rival Trinity College next Saturday at 11 a.m. in its final regular season matchup.
