Jeffs Remain Undefeated, Upend Fifth-Ranked Bowdoin 2-1 on Carr-Harris' Overtime Goal

AMHERST, MA - Rookie midfielder Rachel Carr-Harris (Pleasantville, NY) netted her first career goal with 2:06 left in the first overtime as the Amherst College field hockey team improved to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play with a 2-1 win over previously-undefeated and fifth-ranked Bowdoin College on Saturday.

Senior co-captain Christine Ryan (Summit, NJ) set up the game-winner with a shot off a penalty corner, which Carr-Harris tipped past Bowdoin senior goalie Gillian McDonald (Hudson, Quebec).

The visiting Polar Bears jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when junior forward Marissa O'Neil (Manchester, NH) scored unassisted with 14:52 left in the opening period. Amherst knotted the score with 11:30 left in regulation on a shot from the top of the circle off a penalty corner by sophomore midfielder Katherine Skrivan (St. Louis, MO), her second goal of the season.

Both goalies were exceptional, especially Amherst junior K.C. Cosentino (Greenwich, CT), who turned away six shots in just under 83 minutes, including a key save in the extra session. McDonald finished with seven saves for Bowdoin, which falls to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

Amherst will look to improve to 7-0 Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at non-league foe Mt. Holyoke.
