Sixth-Seeded Jeffs Suffer Narrow 1-0 Loss at No. 3 Bowdoin in NESCAC Tournament Quarterfinals

BRUNSWICK, ME - The sixth-seeded Amherst College men's soccer team suffered a narrow 1-0 loss at No. 3 seed Bowdoin College in the opening round of the NESCAC Championship Tournament on Sunday. Bowdoin sophomore Simon Parsons scored the game winner in the 56th minute as the Polar Bears advance to face second-seeded Middlebury College next weekend in the tournament semifinals.

The Jeffs nearly got on the board in the 15th minute as sophomore Mike Wohl (Northampton, MA) collected a loose ball in the box, but his shot skipped wide of the goal, keeping the game scoreless. Parsons broke the scoreless tie at the 55:39-mark, taking a feed from junior Andrew Russo and beating the Amherst defense for the score.

Bowdoin first-year netminder Nathan Lovitz collected six saves in the shutout as the Polar Bears improved to 10-4, while Amherst senior Dan Glenn (Berkeley, CA) was credited with two saves as the Jeffs finished their season at 10-5.
