WILLIAMSTOWN, MA - The Amherst College field hockey team wrapped up its season with a 4-2 loss at 16th-ranked NESCAC and Little Three archrival Williams College on Saturday. Senior tri-captain Molly Gilbert (Penn Valley, PA) scored both goals for the Jeffs, who close their fall slate at 5-9 overall and 2-7 in conference play.
The Jeffs jumped out to a 2-1 first-half lead as Gilbert notched her first score in unassisted fashion and used a feed from sophomore Christa Porcaro (Pelham, NY) to convert the second. Williams senior Jaye Gregory (Greenwich, CT) tallied the Ephs' lone first-half score.
Williams took control after the break with a trio of unanswered goals. Sophomore Rebecca Allen (Mt. Kisco, NY) found the cage to open the second-half scoring and sophomore Cary Bearn (Bethlehem, PA) netted a pair of scores to seal the win for the Ephs.
Amherst sophomore netminder Kathleen Boucher (Washington, DC) collected five saves in a losing effort, while Williams counterpart Emily Wasserman (Englewood, CO) posted four stops as the Ephs finished the regular season at 11-3 (7-2 NESCAC).
