Medford, MA - The Amherst College men's soccer team suffered its first defeat of the season on Saturday, falling at NESCAC rival Tufts University, 2-0. The Jeffs fell to 3-1-1 (1-1-1 NESCAC) on the season, while the Jumbos improved to 3-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
Tufts junior Mattia Chason (Rome, ITA) notched a pair of goals to seal the victory for the Jumbos, scoring his first just six into minutes into play off an assist from senior Todd Gilbert (Chicago, IL), and adding an insurance tally in the 74 th minute, off a feed from senior Mike Guigli (North Stonington, CT).
Amherst senior goalkeeper Greg Lockwood (Vancouver, WA) posted three saves, while Tufts rookie netminder Brian Dulmovits (Sayville, NY) grabbed six in 90 minutes of play. Amherst returns to action tomorrow (Sunday) at 2 p.m. against visiting non-conference foe Salve Regina.
