MILTON, Mass. - Four different Jeffs found the back of the net as the ninth-ranked Amherst men's soccer team scored a decisive 4-1 non-conference victory over Curry College.

Extending its unbeaten streak to 23 matches dating back to last season the Jeffs have outscored their opponents 10-3 in 2013 en route to a 3-0-0 start. Falling to the Purple & White for the second time in as many years, the Colonels dropped to 2-2-0.

Controlling the action early, Amherst outshot Curry 6-0 over the first 20 minutes, forcing senior goalkeeper Nick Barber to make three saves. Continuing to push forward, the Jeffs won their sixth corner of the match in the 32nd minute. Serving it into the box, Max Fikke '14 linked up with first-year Andrew Orozco, who headed it home for his first collegiate goal.

Upping its margin just over 10 minutes later, the visitors took advantage of another set piece. With Cameron Bean '17 playing the ball in, senior Ben Norton came out of a scrum in front before sneaking a shot over the line to double Amherst's lead.

The second half proved to be more of the same for the Jeffs as they continued to take advantage of Curry miscues. Floating a ball into the box after a Colonel foul, Mikey Hoeksema '15 found the head of Gabriel Wirz '15, who flicked it into goal at 56:01.

Still trailing 3-0 in the latter stages of the half, Curry broke through the Amherst defense, netting its lone tally on a successful Nick Gilman '15 penalty kick in the 87th minute. Just 1:14 later, Will Poss '16 capped off the scoring by heading in a Tommy Haskel '16 cross from the flank.

Amherst finished with a commanding 30-11 shot advantage and a 9-3 edge in corner kicks. Goalkeeper Thomas Bull '16 made five saves for the Jeffs, who return to action on Saturday, Sept. 14 against Bowdoin. Barber finished with 14 stops.
