Box Score WATERVILLE, Maine – The Mammoths owned an 8-5 edge in shots and a 16-4 advantage in penalty corners, but the No. 6 Amherst College field hockey team was unable to find the back of the net as they fell to Colby College, 1-0 Saturday afternoon at Bill Alfond Field.
With the setback, Amherst falls to 8-3 on the season and to 4-3 in league action, while Colby improves to 9-3 on the year (4-3 NESCAC). Amherst returns to action tomorrow, Sunday, Oct. 15 when they battle Bates at 12 p.m.
Tallying what stood as the game-winner on the Mules' first shot of the contest, Myri Skodock gave Colby a 1-0 lead 6:44 into the first half. Gathering a dish from Georgia Cassidy, Skodock ripped a shot past the Amherst netminder to notch her fourth goal of the year.
