MIDDLEFIELD, Conn. – Four Mammoths won all of their matches as the Amherst College men's golf team won the Little Three Championship on Tuesday at Lyman Orchards Golf Club. The Mammoths captured the Little Three Championship for the first time since winning outright in 2018 and tying with Williams in 2019.

Junior John Beskid and seniors Steven Chen, Teddy Freking and Anthony Zhang came away with wins in every matchup, beginning with the morning foursome alternate shot matches. Freking and Zhang teamed together to win their matches against both Wesleyan and Williams, as did Beskid alongside junior Paari Kaviyarasu and Chen alongside first-year Andre Zhang. Junior Mark Vitels and first-year Jan Ebbinge won their matchup against Wesleyan as the Mammoths swept the Cardinals, 4-0, and took a 3-1 lead over the Ephs into the afternoon singles matches.

Beskid, Chen, Freking and Anthony Zhang won both of their singles matches as well, while Kaviyarasu and Andre Zhang won their matches against Williams and halved against Wesleyan. Ebbinge and Vitels each won their matches against Wesleyan.

The Mammoths finished with a final tally of 11-1 against Wesleyan and 9-3 against Williams to claim the Little Three title. Williams defeated Wesleyan, 9-3, to finish second.

The Mammoths will return to the links this weekend to compete for the Little Three Championship at Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown, Massachusetts. For the first time, the championship has expanded to a three-day, 54-hole event, running from Friday through Sunday (April 25–27) with tee times beginning at 11 a.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
