#12 Amherst Falls to #3 Tufts in Regular Season Finale, 6–1

MEDFORD, MA – The #12 Amherst College men's tennis team closed out their regular season on Sunday afternoon with a 6–1 loss to #3 Tufts University in a NESCAC showdown on the outdoor Voute Tennis Courts. Despite strong efforts, the Mammoths could not overcome an early doubles deficit against the nationally ranked Jumbos.

Up Next: Amherst finishes the regular season 14–6 overall and 7–3 in NESCAC play. The Mammoths have qualified for the 2025 NESCAC Tournament, where they will enter as the #2 seed. They will face the #7 seed, the #15 Wesleyan University Cardinals, in the quarterfinals on Friday morning at 9 AM at Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT.

HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Senior Sujit Chepuri and first-year Albert Hu picked up Amherst's lone doubles win, improving their season record to 12–2 at the #3 doubles spot.
  • First-year Aldiyar Abzhan capped off a stellar regular season by earning his 15th singles win in an Amherst jersey, posting a 6–2, 6–3 victory at the #3 singles position.
  • Sophomore Andreas Sillaste fought back at the #1 singles spot, winning the second set 6–3 to force a third, before falling 6–1 in the decider.
