MEDFORD, MA — On Tuesday, the Amherst College men's squash team had to accept defeat for the first time this season against Tufts University. The #14 ranked started the season with five straight wins, but the #11 Jumbos were able to take advantage of playing at home and bested Amherst with the overall score of 8-1. The match against Tufts was Amherst's third against a NESCAC opponent, making their record in the conference 2-1.
The Mammoths now hold a 5-1 record overall as they prepare for their next match on Thursday, January 15th against Dartmouth College.

The only win for the Mammoths came from sophomore Graeme Herbert at the #4 singles spot. He faced Tufts' Khaled Ahmed Hassan Serag, and prevailed in 44 minutes with the score of 3-1(11-9, 11-3, 11-8, 11-4).

Fares Khairy fell in a close five-set match to Mustafa Ayaz. Khairy won the first two sets, but Ayaz made a comeback to win with a score of 11-5 in the deciding fifth set.
