HADLEY, MA. – Four members of the Amherst College women's squash team were accorded All-NESCAC honors when they were announced today. Junior
Quincy Cline (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and first year
Anastasiia Krykun (Kiev, Ukraine) were named to the First Team, while senior
Alexandra Brown (Victoria, British Columbia) and first-year Kanzy Elkaliuoby (New York, N.Y.) and selected to the All-NESCAC Second Team.
Cline put in another All-NESCAC First Team performance this season, earning the second selection of her career for her play. She led the team from the top of the ladder, going 11-9 overall at both the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. One of her best performances came against Georgetown, where she gutted out a decisive 3-2 win to help the Mammoths to a 5-4 victory.
Krykun earns the first All-conference nod of her Amherst career in her debut season, putting up an 8-11 record at the top three rungs of the ladder. The first-year showed her skills playing against the NESCAC's best all-year, with six 3-0 sweeps in 19 matches to earn a First Team selection.
Brown earns her second All-NESCAC Second Team honor this season. She went 4-10 on the year working in the middle of the Amherst ladder, securing a number of important wins throughout the year.
Elkaliuoby burst onto the scene as a first-year, going a team-best 15-4 in 19 matches this season. Moving between the No. 1, 2, and 3 spots throughout the season, the first-year dispatched players with ease all year and played a huge role in the Mammoths' success with her consistency at the top of the ladder. This is her first All-NESCAC honor.
The Mammoths finished their season 15-6 overall record and 9-0 in the NESCAC to earn the second seed in the conference tournament, where they made a run to the semifinal. They finished the season ranked No. 12 in the nation after a sixth-place finish in the Howe Cup at CSA Nationals this past weekend.
