#10 Mammoths dumped by Dartmouth in Howe Cup Consolation Match, 6-3

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The #10 Amherst College women's squash team fell 6–3 to #11 Dartmouth in the first consolation round of the Howe Cup on Friday at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center, the second day of the CSA National Team Championships featuring the top 12 teams in the nation. In a rematch of Amherst's 5–4 home win earlier this season, the Big Green flipped the script to advance, leaving the Mammoths to prepare for one final matchup in Philadelphia.

        GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • At #4, Kristen Daniel produced Amherst's quickest full-match victory of the day, cruising past Maya Shroff 3–0 (11–6, 11–9, 11–6) in just 26 minutes. Her composed performance never allowed Shroff to gain momentum and put Amherst on the board early.

  • At #3, Kenzy Elkaliuoby delivered the grittiest win of the day, rallying from two games down to edge Eleanor Clifford 3–2 (3–11, 9–11, 11–4, 11–8, 14–12) in a  50-minute battle. Elkaliuoby dominated the third and clawed through tight fourth and fifth games.

    UP NEXT

           * Amherst will close out its Howe Cup campaign on Saturday, March 7 at 3:00 PM against #12 Tufts in the second consolation round at the Arlen Specter US Squash                    Center. The teams will be meeting for the third time this season, with Amherst winning the regular-season clash and Tufts taking the NESCAC Tournament matchup,                  setting up a decisive match to finish the year.
