MAMMOTH WOMEN FALL TO SAGEHENS, 5-2

CLAREMONT, CA. — The #14 Amherst College women's tennis team fell to #7 Pomona-Pitzer 5–2 at the Pauley Tennis Complex on Monday in the second match of their California spring break trip, putting their record at 3–2 overall and 1–1 on the trip. The Mammoths came out swinging by claiming the doubles point, winning two of three courts, before Pomona-Pitzer's depth took over in singles.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Amherst opened with a decisive doubles statement, as Tina She and Anwitha Duduka teamed up for a clean 6–3 win at #2 doubles, and Sophie Diop and Greta Stechschulte matched that effort with a 6–3 victory at #3 to give the Mammoths the early 1–0 lead.
  • In singles, She delivered the day's most dominant performance at #2, besting Leticia Bazua Vazquez 6–0, 6–3 in another commanding straight-sets victory, her most complete individual effort of the spring break trip.
  • At #4, Greta Stechschulte pushed her opponent to a tight third set before ultimately falling 4–6, 7–6, 7–5 in the day's most competitive match.?

The Mammoths will look to compete hard against the nation's top-ranked program and build on the individual bright spots from Monday.
