#15 Amherst claim narrow 5-4 win against #13 Georgetown

ANNAPOLIS, MD — The #15 Amherst College women's squash team continued their strong start to 2025 with a second victory. Building off of their 8-1 win over the #18 Bowdoin College Polar Bears on Wednesday, Amherst beat the #13 Georgetown University Hoyas in a thriller with a 5-4 scoreline at the Prager Family Squash Facility.

Up next: The Mammoths' season record now stands at 5-2 (3-0 in NESCAC matches). Today's match marks the first of three away matches in their Mid-Atlantic Round Robin. With less than 24 hours to recover, Amherst will take on the #24 Franklin and Marshall College Diplomats tomorrow at 4pm on the Mayser Squash Courts in Lancaster, PA. The Diplomats currently hold a 2-4 season record.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

Amherst were successful at the top two spots through senior Tanmai Pathak and sophomore Quincy Cline, both winning three sets to one.
Two of the Mammoths' wins were in five set marathon matches. First-year Kristen Daniel and Yana Sharma prevailed after going the distance at the #5 and #8 spots, respectively.
Junior Mogan Chaudhary earned Amherst's only straight-set win at the #7 spot. Her match lasted 24 minutes.
