#13 Amherst Sweeps #26 Chatham, 9-0, to Close Regular Season With Second Successive Sweep

AMHERST, MA — The #13 Amherst College women's squash team capped off their regular season in dominant fashion, sweeping the #26 Chatham University Cougars with a score of 9-0 on Senior Day at the Davenport Squash Courts. The Mammoths controlled the match from start to finish, winning five matches in straight sets and securing the final four wins by walkover.

Up Next: With this victory, Amherst finishes the regular season at 15-5 overall, including a 7-2 home record, 6-2 on the road, and 2-1 at neutral venues. Riding a two-match winning streak, the Mammoths will now shift their focus to the 2024 CSA Divisional Team Championships. The tournament will take place next weekend, from February 29 to March 3, 2024, at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center in Philadelphia, PA. Amherst will look to round out their season in style, competing against top-ranked national teams in hopes of securing a strong finish.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS: 
  • Senior Tanmai Pathak led the way at the #1 spot, closing her final regular season match with a convincing 3-0 victory, dropping just 16 total points.
  • Junior Brigid Brandon battled through a tight second set with a score of 14-12, before ultimately sealing a 3-0 win at the #3 spot with a strong finish in the third set.
  • Sophomore Ella Miller was dominant at #4, conceding just five total points en route to a quick 3-0 win.
  • Senior Isabelle Tilney-Sandberg delivered a commanding performance at #5, winning her final game 11-0 to complete her straight-set sweep.
